who am i
Expertise: Computing, Networking, Industrial Rope Access, Technical Rope Rescue, Caving, Climbing, Base: Atlanta, Georgia, USAOrganization: William Putnam Consulting LLC
I started exploring caves in 1972. I joined the National Speleological Society in 1980. Caving is a big part of my life. Caving led me into climbing and mountaineering, and together those avocations led me to cave rescue, mountain rescue, and technical rope rescue. Teaching these disciplines led me into the world of industrial rope access and rescue.
I started using and studying computers in 1977 on a CDC 7600 Cyber, one of the early supercomputers, and have been at it ever since. I don't plan to stop. Live free, or die. This led me to become a computer scientist at Georgia Tech and later an independent consutant in Open Systems and Networking technologies.
I love to climb high mountains and explore deep caves.
I enjoy telling my stories.
